It was with great pleasure that today we opened up our pavilion to the Western District Historic Vehicle Club. The Geelong based motoring club has a regular ‘Tinker Day’ and today allowed members of the car club access to our shed to see a wide variety of machines and other industrial + agricultural heritage items on display. The day was well attended with 30 members of the car club, plus 5 Vintage Machinery members tagging along for the ride.
One member made comment that our shed would have to be one of Geelongs hidden mechanical marvels. A total of 10 steam engines were up and running, powered by our waste oil burning George + George Boiler, along with 2 diesel engines from our Oil Engine section of the machinery shed were thumping away to the delights of car club members.
The recent changes to our pavilion means our section can have more ‘open days’ like today, which will only strengthen our community appeal.
